Cheer Bears=Main Attraction!

Cheer Bears = Main Attraction!

Bracken Co. High School’s Blue and White night was the place to be last Friday, October 16th. Some came for the Chili Supper, Some came to see the High School Cheerleaders, and some came to see the Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams, but when the show was over EVERYONE was glad that got an opportunity to see the Bracken Co. Cheer Bears. Although they were the opening act, they stole the show and quickly became the Main Attraction. Everyone I spoke with after Blue/White Night concluded mentioned the Cheer Bears and how they performed with great enthusiasm. The Bracken Co. Cheer Bears are coached by Trisha Dice and Charity Anderson. Nice Job Ladies!

I also want to congratulate the Bracken County High School cheerleaders, The Lady Bears, and Polar Bears for a job well done! All teams performed well and gave the crowd a glimpse of how bright the future is at Bracken Co. High School.

Back To School

What was that flash of light that just passed by my window? It was a school bus! School time again!!! The teachers are ready to meet a new group and embark on the journey of educating these young minds. The children with all of their new clothes and school supplies are preparing for the excitement of another school year.
I was in attendance at the Taylor Elementary Read-i-fest and let me just say that I was impressed how organized it was. The parents had the opportunity to go to several booths including the health department, a local dentist office, the library, PTSA was enrolling new members, Girl Scout representatives were there and as impressive as the community participation was it was nothing compared to the kindness of the teachers and school staff that were present. There were women in the office answering questions and directing people where they needed to go. The principal was present in the gymnasium and was greeting students as they exited. The librarian and p.e. teacher were directing parents and students to their classrooms (especially appreciated by the parents of Kindergarteners). Then of course if you ventured across the street the Family Resource Center had things set up including a snack table and a booth with a police officer doing finger prints of the children and letting them look inside his police cruiser. Overall it was a great experience!

The middle school also has a similar event; an open house where parents and students can meet and greet the teachers, and receive valuable information for the upcoming school year. I was not
at this event, but based on my experience at Taylor I assume it was just as successful.
